Identification Systems
Identification systems are used for object identification. They can be used to automate manufacturing processes and to control the entire logistics of merchandising management through flexible networking. This reduces throughput times and makes variant manufacturing more flexible. Pepperl+Fuchs offers a comprehensive range of electromagnetic identification systems (RFID). Object identification is also possible using barcodes and data matrix codes.
RFID
RFID systems (Radio Frequency Identification) are electromagnetic systems and are available from Pepperl+Fuchs in several versions.

The System IDENT Control is an innovative identification system because only one evaluation unit is required for a variety of frequencies. Inductive identification systems (System IV and System IP) operate according to the transformer principle in the near field. This system is particularly suitable for applications relating to automation, material flow control in manufacturing technology, plant data collection and the identification of objects such as storage containers, pallets, work-piece holders etc.

Microwave identification systems (System MV and System MT) operate according to the Hertz dipole principle in the far field. These systems are typically used for identifying larger objects, for example, in car manufacturing and logistics for vehicle barrier control or the bundled identification of several goods on a conveyor unit.

Barcodes and data matrix code are pure fixed code systems. The code is applied to a label (e.g., in the form of a bar code or a 2D matrix code). These labels are scanned / recorded optically according to the reflection principle. The code is then read based on the sequential differences in intensity. Barcodes are read using scanning equipment (laser scanners or CCD technology) and matrix codes using an image recognition process with a camera. Both optical code types can be created with commercially-available printers and are therefore quite inexpensive.
